I have tried it before but I am just not a fan of it. I like me a good steak. You have not had a steak till you have had one that you fed and raised youself. I named a cow big mac and I fed him and took great care of him and guess what, he made a darn fine burger...

If it smells bad I don't put it anywhere near my face and guess what, crab smells like the poop I just took.

You raised a cow, named him (like a pet) and then ate him? That is just sick. That's like eating Wilbur from Charlotte's Web.

Anyways, if seafood ever smells "fishy," it's because it's gone bad. Fresh seafood never smells. It's a shame that most crab is frozen. I think you should give it another try, and make sure it's fresh. Go try Crustacean in SF. I like steak more than any other food, but I would still say crab is a close second.

I grew up, up by tahoe and yes we raised cows for several reasons. They would eat the grass to help keep the fire danger lower and they provided us with food. It was some of the best beef ever. My friends that have ate it say that nothing else compairs to my beef. So I raised him fully knowing that it was going to be my dinner. It is a part of life. Big Mac was not so much a pet, I had a dog as a pet and no it did not get eaten. Big Mac was raised in the specific way to make the most tender meat possible.

I know that if it smells bad it is spoiled. I have eaten good seafood that was fresh caught in Costa Rica and had good sushi here in the states but it is just not my cup of tea. Yes I will eat seafood but I would rahter eat and land creature of sorts which includes birds like turkey and chicken. I eat a lot of turkey and chicken, but have never raised either.

the shell will keep it from drying out plus the meat will pull away from the shell when its cooked

That, and the shell becomes brittle from the heat so it's really easy to remove while you still get that "fresh off the grill" aroma that's oh so noice!
