Thumbs up June 15 - 4 STI's coming to MAITA

We will be getting our STI Allocation sometime around June 15.

1 - Black
2 - Silver
1- Blue

We will have a $4995 Mark Up on them, and yes we have one of them sold. Yes we, know, some will be selling at MSRP or Mark Up. So am just letting you know what we have coming. Am sure there wll be a few saying am boycotting, am not paying that price etc. Well next time you got to the Arden Fair Mall or go the Grocery Store, tell them you don't want to pay that price at the counter

Thumbs down

I might go to the store to buy food and stuff and I pay the LIST price. However, the store does NOT charge an extra 15% just because an item is new

Hey guys...this country was built on CAPITALISM remember? If the market will bear it, let them charge markup. All the rich and the stupid will go pay markup, and those of us who wait until the idiots are saturated with STi's will stroll in and get them for 1000 over invoice.

Don't shoot Chris for keeping us informed. People have to make money, and it's a limited edition car. Cough up the dough or STFU.

Those who whine about markup are poor and don't understand how the world works, and probably never will.

</rant>

Thanks Chris for the info, keep it coming, most of us appreciate your posts!

Well said Eric. Chris did say that some will be at MSRP. Some dealerships even offered MSRP if you preorder. Let the ones that didn't preorder with the "me first!" attitude pay the markup. Besides, it's the best performance Subaru out the door in the US. Let them charge a premium and establish the STi as their flagship auto. At least it's not bad as the Mitsu dealers charging $15K to $20K on top for the Evo.

I'm sure Chris is a nice guy and thanks for the info Chris. Meicanpizza, you are right about capitalism, though I think it's more of a supply/demand issue. It's the management/owner's choice to charge a premium over MSRP. It's a shame but they are in business for the money/profit.
Sti is a great car, I have one on order. I have no problem paying a $5K premium but it's not in my right mind to do so. I don't have a promise from Carlsen for MSRP but I will not pay a dollar over that if they do charge a premium.
But congrats to all who can get the STi this month, I wish I do.

Will

True. I talked with a sales guy over at stevens creek and he said "well we only get 1 or 2 a month so we charge the markup." I then laughed and he quickly said "well if youre serious we can bring the mark up down half but thats all"

I personally think a 5k mark up is too much. Thats just straight cash in the dealers pocket.

my $.02

I didn't mean to come across as such a p3nis in my previous post.

I know that it hurts to see the markups, but they WILL go away, and if you don't want to pay them either:

a.) Wait

or

b.) Find a dealer in Podunk, CA that is just happy to sell one

Anyway...I want one really bad, and I sure as hell can't afford to blow $5k for the "me-first" factor (and wouldn't even if I COULD afford it).

**HINT** If you go through the internet dealer at maita you get a small discount off the mark-up, but the wouldnt take my offer of 33500 out the door. I'll see if I can find the price they gave me.

Chris didn't invent mark-up. He was also mostly just posting that so all of us mortals who can't afford one at invoice can go drool on them.

They don't call it 'stupid tax' for nothing.

yep like carsdirect.com only charge $500 over invoice for the evo when it came out. i'm sure the sti is going to be no different.

Oh god, I hate it when I see people say that. The dumbest thing ever, grocery store make 1-2% profit. That said I don't think there is anything wrong with charging over MSRP, if someone will pay that price then so be it.
