iphone users and free ringtones..

When I used to have an iphone about a year ago there was a windows application that allowed you to convert an mp3 into a ringtone.

does anything like that exist for the iphone 3gs with the 3.0 update?
I don't want to purchase a ringtone for a song I already own. i think that's just lame.

I've used Audacity a bunch for various sound editing projects, including making MP3 ringtones. It's an excellent program...and FREE!

Are you just trying to do one song right now or are you looking for a solution to use all the time?

awesome program, it's like a free version of soundforge.

thanks. but it won't work for anything other than editing.. i need a program to convert a song into the ringtone file. (iphone doesn't just take an mp3 and make it a ringtone, it has to be an apple iphone ringtone file.. so weak)

That's weak that it won't play straight MP3 files. Oh the gloriousness of proprietary apple file types.
