Infineon Jim Russell shifter karting
Has anybody done the arrive n drive shifter karting with at Infineon?
After researching shifter karts, I realize that I'm not ready to commit the money to OWN one. Instead, I would like to do the day rental a couple of times.
The only place in NorCal that I've found is the Infineon one with Jim Russell. But their website is woefully sparse and unclear. Most info is about their classes, and even that is vague. Yet I keep reading about people doing day rental of shifter karts from them.
Anyone done this?

I'd say to out to Dixon first... there are some good drivers out at infineon, and it's also one of the most technical and fast kart tracks in the country. def not for beginners to karting.
are you looking for tech classes on karting or just going on and driving some?
i'd say go rotax at first (non-shifter). then step it up into the shifter realm.
you'll thank me later.

I'm fine with a non-shifter.
I've driven Infineon HPDE, but I realize it's not the same as on a kart.
Looking to just drive some.... like a "track day" but in a kart.

wait a minute, what's your karting experience? for Jim Russell, you don't use the Infineon track for karting. they have their own karting track at the top of the hill by the main entrance.

Jim Russell no longer does the kart rental or arrive and drive race series. The only thing the offer is track time if you own your own equipment. Contact Dave from Infinity Karting. they have exactly what you are looking for.

Has anyone tried renting a kart? I tried googling kart rental, but haven't seen anything useful. I have an uncle in morgan hill with alot of land. Thought it would be fun some weekend to set up a karting track, and split a rental with some friends.

Well it just so happens I work at a kart shop in Marina. We have a kart that we let people do demos in from time to time. Its a 125cc non shifter (tag kart). Call the shop and ask for John 831-384-5278 or email us on the website

go to kart tracks, you'll find someone with one for sale.
check out the kinsmen first in Dixon... then move out to the kart track at infineon. The infineon, like i said earlier, is a very technical track. People will be absolutely jamming out there on you if you're a newb (even 14yr olds)... I don't think people understand how tech driving these things are.
if completely new, I'd recommend starting with a 80cc Rotax, then move into a 125cc Rotax... before moving to 100 or 125cc shifter. My old trackmagic kart had ~47 horse to ~225lbs... crazy fast. about ~425 with me in it.
