I am going away to UC santa cruz or UC davis next year, but the problem is that they wont let on-campus freshman have cars. has any one encountered the same problem or can think of a solution for me to get my car there? i definatley want to live on campus though.
do freshmans ever get parking permits by using upper classman's names?

No.
You have to purchase a dorm (U, I think...it's been over 4 yrs since I graduated) permit to park overnight. The general C permit can be used at night, but if they see your car night after night at different lots, they'll take notice of it.
The reason why they're enforcing this is b/c there isn't enough parking space for both dorm students and campus parking (mainly C).
I was lucky enough to have the A permit (staff/faculty) the last two years of my stay at UCD. Finding a space with a C permit was a nightmare!!!
btw, which dorm are you staying at?

give me your car...i'll take good care of it. j/k
My sister had the same problem her first year at UCSC . SOLUTION? she moved out of the dorms and found a house to rent on Mission street. But that doesn't look to be an option for you.

i would gladly give up my car for a year just so i can experience freshman dorm life! 24/7 socializing, weird roommates, questionable dorm food, dozens of horny chics walking around in their PJ's, dormcest...where else are you gonna get exposure to that kind of material for future bar talk? LOL.

find someone that lives local and park it at their house.
The dorms are a blast there but I wouldn't go without a car if I didn't have to. My friend was out there. I've seen more than a few wasted hotties wondering around campus.
they need to build more parking.

maybe he should bribe felix, mike, or any of the UCD iclub-ers so he can park his car over at their place! the last time i checked, tanglewood didn't require permits. just take the W line to cowell and pick up your car everytime. hahahah...that would be hilarious!

my friends who didnt get permits are park in the neighborhoods. you can always ask the people if you can park in front of their house. i dont think its a good idea to bring your car to school because it might get dented or keyed especially by the fools who are jealous of your WRX. oh and you will never know what drunk kids might do at night when they walk across the parking lot. at cal poly the stupid kids **** on cars in the parking stucture. its retarded. also my friend's car got hit and she never found out who did it so now she has to pay out of her pocket. i mean..if you need a ride home you can always ask a friend in the dorms. to tell you the truth i regret bringing my car but i already paid for the permit so i have to use it. this next quarter im leaving my WRX at home and taking my dad's daily driver truck. haha. good luck. enjoy ur senior year now that you got into college!

At some point you'll sell the car, but you'll keep the memories of college forever.
