I went to Rancho Grande Motors in SLO today
i went in for a 7500 chekc up. i dropped it off and when i came back to pick it up, the car was thru a fence, the back end up in the air, and the nose was in a bunch of branches and trees. when i got there the guy told me the car ran into the river..it wasnt even in the damn river yet idiot and how the hell did that happen..they said one of the detailers parked it in first gear and since i had a remote start..it just automatically took offf. that was BS because someone had to have been playing with the remote for it to turn on. it is definite that someone had to press it once and hold it the second time to have the engine start so they cant tell me it automatically happened. this is bull****. the car is all scratched up. luckily there are no major damages. no dents but there are deep scratches. they said the will contact their insurance and their insurance will contact mine. all they said was that they were sorry and will try to get it fixed. thats not fair. man im pissed...well i just wanted to tell my story to the club and idk wat to do..wat else should i do??? this is the worst way to start off the new year...

Sorry to hear about that. It sounds like several people could be at fault here.
If the remote start was installed correctly it should only start when the car is neutral. The person that installed the remote start incorrectlly will be partly at fault for this. For your sake I hope a shop installed it and you didn't do it on your own.
If you knew about the remote start being able to start the car while it is in gear you should have informed the mechanics.
The mechanics have no business screwing with your remote unless it is also used for the alarm. In the case that they would have to use the remote to disable the alarm they aren't really at fault at all. They would have no clue that the remote would start the car while it is in gear.

i dont know about this one. Manual cars should not have remote starts in the first place, and secondly if you do get one, it should be one of those with of those clifford ones that permit the alarm installed on a manual car.
that sucks either way.
I remember seeing a thread about a guy with remote start on his manual car and had the valet park his car. Long story cut short, his car rammed into the car in front of him or something. Might want to search for that thread on nasioc.

wow, sorry to hear that big ol' mess up. i too, have a viper alarm that has remote start. the shop i bought it from would not install this feature because my car was manual. i paid one of there employees on the side to do it anyways... my point is the remote i have has a big button that looks like a lock, which is lock, and another button with a picture of an open lock, for open, how the **** can that shop not know that.

you should have your car inspected by a body shop of your choice, and make sure that all damage, both to the frame, suspension/wheels/tires, and to the underside of the car is inspected, in addition to the cosmetic stuff.
consult your insurance company about this...if you have full coverage, they will deal with the insurance of the dealership for you, you should never have to talk to the dealer's insurance.
