I want to congratulate myself for winning the traffic tocket.

Oops. Edit: ^^^traffic ticket.

Yup, I won. I got almost $800 bail amount refund.

Not too proud of it, but I got pulled over for speeding and modified emssion/exhaust. Didn't have the time to go to court, so I filed for trial by declaration. Today, I got my bail amount (minus processing fees) back.

P.S. this is not a cop hating thread. I merely just practiced my rights in writing.

nice! what was the reason they found you not guilty for? cop didn't write a report, or did they review your tbd and find you not guilty via your defense?

I am not too sure. The check did not come with any face-sheet or a letter. Under memo it simply reads, "OAA". Absolutely no idea what that means. I suppose I could call them during weekday if I really want to.... But I'm just glad I have absolutely zero records on my license!

i've been dealing with all kinds of paperwork since a cop pulled me over who happened to be half retarded, wrote me up for the Impeading traffic code (for a busted head light)

since then i've had a point on my record the past year and need to be refunded all the extra money i've given the auto and moto insurance companies

and the cop had the nerve to say "I'm gonna write you up. it's only a $10 ticket"

I was wearing my City shirt too! no City worker love?! WTF man?

i'm really curious to know what your defense was. I assume you WERE in fact speeding with a modified exhaust right?

Usually you'll just tell your side of the story, either not admitting guilt or offering some explanation for your actions; safe for conditions, had to poop, etc.

What you're really banking on is that the cop doesn't submit his paperwork on time, thus dismissing the case regardless of what you said in your statement.

this reminds me of my speeding ticket..
trial by declaration, then trial denovo, then granted an extention...and the end of the day..the cop still showed up.

just straight up bad luck...

Well, I had my own unique situation. I believe I had a good fighting chance - which I don't want to disclose on a public forum. Neverthless, I was traveling Safe and Reasonable speed for conditions at the time of my stop;therefore, was not in violation of the Basic Speed Law.

I hear the Basic Ca Speed Law is actually the easiest citation to fight. Plenty of variables play into that law that make it harder to enforce. Glad you won the fight though!
