I need help with a lost wheel lock key ASAP!
Hey I lost the key to my locking lug nut..I only have 1 I need to take off, but I cannot find the key any where...I went 2 3 tire places, and a repair shop, and not 1 of them could break off my lug nut..its a gorilla style lug nut, and i'll post a picture of the car so u can see what the wheel looks like...if anyone has any suggestions please help me out
btw, this is for my 325is...I tried the BMW boards but they didn't help
Thanks,
Zoeb

Not sure if I would try this myself but I've read a suggestion to weld a hex nut to the lock, then use a regular socket to remove the lock. Depending on the welding method, you risk damage to the wheel finish.
A Vise-Grip® is useless, at least on a McGard wheel lock. Someone tried to take the locks off my GLHS but all they succeeded in doing was to remove the chrome plating along a very thin line around the lock - couldn't get a grip because of the case-hardened, tapered surface.
Others have suggested hammering a slightly oversized socket onto the lock if you have the wheel clearance, then removing the whole thing as one unit. No idea if this works.
Wheel locks work!

we already tried putting a bigger size socket on the wheel lock..the problem is that there is very little space between the wheel lock and the outter edge of the hole where it goes in so u can't put to big of a socket on it

Years ago I use to work at Sears changing tires. If someone didn't have their key we had some special tools to remove the wheel locks. They were different sized sockets with a smooth inside (instead of hex). You would select one that fit the wheel lock. Then spin it on the lock with an airgun. After it heated up you would stop and hit it with a hammer. After it cooled a bit the "socket" would grab the wheel lock very snuggly and you could just twist the wheel lock right off. I'm not sure if this helps but I know they use to do it at Sears.
Good luck,

well, i was referring to the group of people who unite to conspire to lose their wheel lock keys and clog internet forums with posts about how to get them off. but, i have no pertinent advice other than to perhaps grab it with your fingers and try real hard to unscrew those little suckers. or you could look in the paperwork for the locks and contact gorilla with the code for the locks so they can send you another key. but then again you probably lost that too.
