My Dad did 6 weeks of "eat to live" http://www.drfuhrman.com/

Completely reversed, and now just follows some of the tips from the book on eating better & the obvious exercise.

Hope to hear your doctor is wrong!

it was bad. like you i was drinking a ton of water. i was super lethargic too. i remember that the day i went to the hospital i couldnt get up the stairs in my house in one shot. i had to crawl, and take a couple breaks to make it up to the top.

but im in good control now, thankfully

first line treatment for T2D = diet and exercise; it does wonders! a good doctor who cares about you will tell you this. but many doctors dont because they make money on selling drugs (usually metformin). its totally reversible via lifestyle adjustment, like matthepcat said.

best of luck Paul, hope second test comes out better

I on the other hand have the opposite problem. When I do the fast my blood sugars are in the 40 range or lower. Gets scary when my blood sugars drop cus I pass out and have seizures. Lets just hope a fresh diet this week and another test is better. Even if its better I would get a tester and do your own tests at home to keep informed. Speaking of which I need to get more test strips.

also, for you diabetes patients, ask your doctor for hemoglobin A1c readings, the most reliable clinically relevant long-term marker of glycemic control. this can tell you if your overall glucose control has improved over a given period of time.

You pretty much hit my diagnosis right on the nose.

I've been Type 1 for 10 years (Since I was 10) and alot of people in my family are type 2. It can be controlled without meds at all and as long as you eat right you will be fine.

Heck even eating right for me has brought my HBA1C from 14+ down to under 7. =)

Goodluck!

Buy yourself a roadbike, that's what I did and its a awesome workout. I used to ride bmx when I was younger and I tell you what there's no way my body would be able to take some of the horrific spills I used to have, ill bet mountain biking is very similar. Its hella crazy because my road bike is like a sports car, super efficient, light, can grip in turns like no other, and is fast as hell. Greatest workout purchase I ever made. I rode accross the gg bridge into tiburon on sat.
