that does give me hope. if i dont have to change out the injectors and all that other stuff, than it would make my life alot easier.

I got a peak at the cheat sheet for the smog test sheet. The only things you have to wrry about are the CATS (3) the O2 sensors (2), make sure there are no check engine lights and the ECU works properly. Besides that you have the Fuel Gas Tank is sealed well, and the evaporation canisters go back to the intake. Also the stock airbox HAS to be there. Besides that everything else is pretty cut and dry except for maybe a front mount intercooler. Make sure those injectors are the correct size if you don't reflash it.

hey chris
so i need to
1 put on the stock uppipe
2 stock exhaust
3 remove utec
4 remove STi injectors and Perin fuel rails and replace with stock
5 remove FMIC and replace with stock one
6 remove Blitz intake and replace with stock
7 get paperwork from you with VIN # and receipt from a wrecking yard
that should take careof everything to get it to pass. some work, but not too bad.
let me know if you think of anything else

PM BADWRX. He had to go to the ref, and I believe he was fine with an FMIC and PE1820. He got the STi injectors to work, but I think it took a long time for the ECU to adjust to all the fuel.
Of all things, the ref failed him because he had an a/f meter. Apparently tapping into ECU wires for ANYTHING is instafail. (unless you hide the tapping well
He has an OLD thread on NASIOC about his trip to the ref. Similar to Daniel, cop looked under his hood and said he needed to see the ref.

jeez
he got away with a fmic? that is crazy. i am going to do everything possible to make is as stock as possilble. i only want to go once.
the car has a utec, and i am thinking of getting a ecutec instead anyway. i could then keep the STi injectors. but i am not sure i am going to have time to do all that. i want to get this done asap.
anyone else have experience with the ref? BADWRX, you out there?

Josh,
1 put on the stock uppipe - NOT NECESSARY
2 stock exhaust - CORRECT
3 remove utec - CORRECT
4 remove STi injectors and Perin fuel rails and replace with stock - IF YOU USE ECUTEK THIS WIL NOT BE NECESSARY
5 remove FMIC and replace with stock one - I WOULD PUT IT TO STOCK
6 remove Blitz intake and replace with stock - CORRECT
7 get paperwork from you with VIN # and receipt from a wrecking yard - I DID NOT NEED PAPERWORK FOR THE REF AND NEITHER HAVE THREE OTHER LOCAL CONVERSION PEOPLE

Josh, The car WILL pass with the STi injectors. My car passed with 3 cats, PE1820 turbo, Ported header, STi injectors.
Go to the referee in Fremont. Deny everything and insist that the car is stock. Worked like a champ.
