Highway 101 to be closed overnight April 22-24
By Gary Richards, San Jose Mercury News
Highway 101 will be closed overnight for three nights beginning April 22, not this weekend, as Caltrans previously announced.
Construction of temporary bridge supports will shut down both directions of 101 from the I-280/I-680 interchange to Capitol Expressway April 22 through April 24. At least one northbound lane will remain open from Tully to 280/680.
The Tully overpass is being widened and an extra lane is being added on southbound 101 from south of Story Road to north of Capitol Expressway.
Here are the detours Caltrans recommends:
From 280 to 101 south, take McLaughlin Avenue to Capitol to the 101 southbound onramp. To join 101 farther south, take Highway 87 to Highway 85 and then 101.
From 680 to 101 south, take King Road to Capitol to the 101 southbound onramp.
From 101 north, take Capitol to King to the Tully onramp to 101. The Tully northbound onramp will remain open, and drivers will be able to enter 101 north from either eastbound or westbound Tully during this closure.
