Weird, I had my custom plates for 4 years until last year when the car was stolen and I don't think I ever paid after the first payment to get the plates. My reg for that car was like $46 last year (1968 Austin Mini). The car was stolen in SF last year (I told the new owner - don't park it on the street over night in SF, he did, and it lasted 3 hours).
RIP my plates, they can never be used again unless the car is recovered.

We pay 40 bucks on each car every year to keep the plate. It will show the different payment amounts on reg. One price for keeping the plates and another price if you chose not to keep the vanity plates. The only time I didnt pay for my vanity plate was in November when the dealer registered the Shelby right off the bat with the Gibz plates the day we bought it.
