Someone was saying that they were waiting until they turn 25 so they can get a discount. Don't even bother b/c I just turned 25 and saw no change in my policy. I even called AAA to ask about it, and they told me that was just a myth. Maybe other companies offer a discount, but I would never switch b/c AAA is a great insurer.

 

This is probably because CA goes by years of licensing experience since CA is not allowed to rate according to age. If you received your license at 18, you will have to wait 9 years from that to see a change.

Here's how I remember it.

0-3 years single male - highest rate (no good driver discount)
4-8 single male/0-3 single female - high rate (male with good driver discount)
9-15 single male/4-8 single female - lower rate
15 or more married male/4-8 female single - lowest rate

There are more patterns like married female and once you hit an estimated age of 70. It starts going up again at around that age.

Try Costco and American Express by the way. They gave me a pretty good quote for my cars.

 

I've been with AAA for 8.5 years so maybe next year I will see a discount!!!
