Are you sure about that?

Other than DUI, it was 37 months, the last time I checked, from the date of the offense before it drops off your record. 37 months goes for 1 pointers too, I had thought.

I remember too that 1 point is 3 years, 2 points or more are 7 and sometimes 10 years.

This isn't much help, other than 36 months being the minimum time for even a 1 pointer being on your record.

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/dl/vioptct.htm all the violations, all the points.

They should start ticketing people driving too slow since they are as equally hazardous on the road as the guy that are speeding.

The cheapest way to get car insurance is to have a multi-line or multli-vehicle policy. For instance, I had 2 vehicles and a renters policy through Allstate and was paying $1,500 per year for full coverage on everything. When I sold my 2nd car and dropped the renters insurance my cost for insurance for my 03WRX was about $1,400 per year.

What I did now, is I convinced my father to add me to his policy, where he has homeowners, and now 4 vehicles on the policy. Now my portion of insurance on his policy is less than $900 a year for my WRX, and can stay on the policy as long I don't get any points.

If you are paying more than $1,400 a year, just for your car, add renters insurance or homeowners, and you get a 10% on all your insurance. So adding renters insurance, can actually save you money on car insurance, plus you have your personal property covered through renters insurance (all your tools, stereo, computers etc...)

I am 26 and have no points...

X-claim adjuster here.... if you guys ever get into an accident or anything you should PM me.

2004 WRX wagon. No tickets, no accidents, $1300 a year through USAA.

It was cheaper when I had a junker as my "primary" car. When I sold it, I had no idea that my insurance would go up about $250 a year.

All the insurance companies I have underwritten for all apply points at renewal time if you are lucky enough to be reviewed.
eh, to be exact, i believe it's 682 every 6 months... which is about $114 every month.
I get discounted for being an insured driver at a different insurance company for 6+years. My car is also located in cupertino, which is really cheap. My car is also an '02 with 75k miles and i now drive only 8,000 miles a year. I also changed my policy to dictate that I drive for pleasure, and not to work. Finally, I get a discount for having a BA in "the sciences" (CS major).

I was paying 3k a year at state farm due to that renewal reason. So, that's why I went to mercury.

You guys make me feel real good now about the insurance I pay...

Roughly $2300 a year at AAA for my '02 WRX with a $500 deductible.

No, he's totally wrong. I can say that with 100% certainty.
Points stay on for 3 years and DUI's for 7.

"he's totally wrong" refers to the person helladumb was quoting.
Why do people say things with certainty when they really have no idea what they are talking about?

So what makes me totally wrong? 1 pt stay for 3 years, 2pt(DUI, wreckless driving, speed contest....) are 7 years. On top of what the DMV says, I've asked both a CHP, and local officer. Where is your information from to say I am "totally wrong"...

edit***Oh I see my mistake, pardon the dyslexia. this should have read "1 point violations remain on your license for 3 years" I knew what I meant In my later posts it was correct. I've had both types of violations and personally know how long each takes to leave your record.
