Question How long to receive new license plate?

Bought my car on 9/20. My custom license plate is already ready for pickup but I still havn't received my registration and regular license plate yet. I believe I need to bring my regular plate to DMV for exchange of my custom plate.

How long did it take for you to receive your new plate? Thanks.

Howard

I dunno, but for a regular plate, it can take anywhere from 1-4 months. But it should arrive soon. Maybe just wait 1 more month and see what happens. Otherwise I'd give em a call or something instead of waiting 2-3 hours in line only for them to tell you that you have to be patient

New STi owners, you all got your car quite recently. Care to comment? Thanks.

Back in '02, my standard plates took about six weeks to arrive. It seems to vary, as I know a lot of people who have purchased new vehicles since then and some have taken over two months from the time they took possession of the vehicle. Maybe the plates/registration are mailed out in batches to save money.

Mine did not come at all i waited over 3 months and even got a ticket for no plates(even though i told the cop that i haven't received it yet). Went to dmv told them what happened then they issued a new one (i think the original one got lost so they gave me a new set)

I'd call or go into your local DMV office. That was over 8 weeks ago, and the processing time is usually about 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll probably pay a visit to DMV later this week. Called the 800 DMV number a few times (try to save me a trip), but that stupid line is always busy. Tried to make an online appointment on DMV's site to cut my waiting time, the next available date is after 3 weeks.

Why is the DMV operation so fxxxxx up?
