HOw hard to swap trunks?

Yup, how hard is it? I imagine there'd be a problem with the locks, but what else, and how much time?

you also have to swap the springs, which are long pieces of painted, bent piano wire (metal rods).

These are torsion springs, and somebody here must know how to remove them.

OTW, your trunk will not stay open, and his may spring up too hard...

It didn't look that hard (just a few bolts), but those springs are kinda scary if you don't know what you're doing. Maybe I'll consult my service manuals!

Well...I have two torsion springs like the manual shows...I think that all cars do...spoiler or not. If that is the case then it's just a couple of bolts.

I remember swapping trunks with another member, it was pretty easy. We didn't switch the springs, just the lid and spoilers.

BTW: Don't forget to switch the keylocks, and the take off brake light wire.

Sweet...thanks Bongman. The only other thing I'd probably need verc is your 3rd brake light. I already bought the Oricari molded piece to cover up the hole in my back deck.

Also...where are you located?

We did an STi to WRX trunk swap at my house a couple of weeks ago. It took the two owners about 20 minutes to do the swap. They had to swap the springs since the STi trunk weighs more and has a stiffer spring. I don't think anybody thought about the lock cores though.

The WXR owner had a problem with the STi trunk sticking out about 1/8", but the WRX trunk fit perfect on the STi. Kinda weird.
