How Could This Have Happened

Is this ****ing april fools or WHAT! last night at like 9pm i decided to go out on a hwy by my house and play with some boost. Nothing out of the norm.. i hit 21.5 psi on my FP green.. and shifting into third my car BOGS hella hard. Same feeling as if an intercooler pipe blew off.. I manage to pull it into a safeway parking lot and head home on foot to grab my Truck,Jack, stands, and tools.. Thinking its just an intercooler pipe problem I start jacking up the car looking for the disconnected pipe.. only thing is.. all the pipes are in tact................
I start my car... and its idle is absolute $hit. the dome light that was on was flickering cuz idle sucked so bad... it sounded like my car was cammd.. and when i revved it no boost came into play. Normally i can hear my BOV while revving, and i couldn't hear it at all...
Clouds of gray/black smoke were billowing out of my exhaust..

I think my turbo's DEAD..

what do u guys think?

before you say FP Green FTL youmight want to diagnose the problem. Many cars run great with a FP Green setup. I am not saying it isn't the turbo, but find out what is going on first. A bad turbo won't make idle hard, at least to my knowledge.

it could be a lotta things, blown coil pack, bad cylinder, boost leak/no boost, etc.

are you holding boost?

sounds like what happened to me when my tmic disconnected, the idle was sh*t and it would eventually die. but since you say theres nothing wrong with ur fmic piping, i dunno what to say. sucks to hear that, good luck

your hoses and pipes may look connected but you should look at them all and makesure there is no holes or blown hoses could have had something jump up and puncture your intercooler if your running a front mount. (just a few suggestions)
like they said diagnose what is going on before jumping to the conclusion that its the turbo

check the recirculation line that the stock BPV goes through. also, check all the hoses, see if there are any portions that are altered/disfigured. this happened to me and it was cause of a hole in my y-pipe, then went perrin and lived happily ever.r........nvm

Iv'e made sure that every intercooler pipe is secure (pulled on each pipe near coupler and theres no play what so ever)
the vaccum line from the BOV to the T splitter where i tapped my boost guage is FINE
the spot where the BPV feeds back into the engine is blocked off for BOV which is fine

FP green is a great turbo.. i shouldn't say FTL but.. for MY loss...
oil level is fine
coolant level is fine...

soo... the car starts.. idles like utter **** and doesn't hit any type of boost
i'm not jumping to conclusions but iv'e elmianted possiblites and used a few life lines and it's narrowed down to my turbo..
If anyone is in santa rosa that could help me figure it out i'll reward with 40 oz to freedom

thanks...

as soon as i felt the huge BOG i took it outta gear and within seconds the car turned off..
I was able to coast it to a nearby safeway..
then about 30 mins later i attempted to start it.. at which point it idled like crap and didn't dish out any boost..

I unfortunatly bought the turbo used from a CL add..
GST installed it after no shaft play was detected..
and gst is like $450 for a flatbed away

idles like ****? Black smoke? Do you know what rod knock sounds like?

To me it sounds like you blew up your motor. ****ing with your boost levels after a tune is a good way to do that.

Hopefully that's not what happened but it could be. Take it to GST and have them do a leak down/compression test. You get any CEL's? Just read your GST comment...far away...take it to LIC they can do the test.
