Not sure the stock exhaust is SST; it is most likely mild steel.

How many passes did you do with the Mothers mag polish? What was the material you applied it with? And did you do it by hand or machine? If by hand, what type of motion? If my machine, what type of speed?

Heres an example. This was a Fujitsubo back box I restored that had seen many years of Japanese environmental conditions. This was very withered and required a multi-step restoration process. Everything from chemical detox to several stages of polishing and final polishing, and finishing up with a metal surface sealant.

I am sure yours is no where near as bad. Poor steel quality can also play a factor in the way the metal reacts to extreme temperature variances and its aging behavior.
