Honest opinion abut getting in a mod mag

I am looking to gauge interest and get info about trying to get my car in a mod magazine.

I am looking for feedback. Good bad and ugly. First off I want people to know my car is my baby like many of your cars are your babies. You enjoy modifying them and driving it and showing it off. Our subies are something to be proud of, stock to the modified race car. I know some of you could care less for me so please if you could skip this thread, if you do however feel like giving my honest feedback, good or bad (in a nice way ) it is more than welcome. I have spent 2 years learning to work on my car and learning to drive it whether on the strip or at T-Hill. It is my passion and I hope I get through this build bug free (knock on wood ) and have a sleeping giant.

My thought is that #1 it's a sleeper and 2# I did it all myself. It is really a clean ride per everyone that has seen it and mentioned it to me. I would love to get in a tuner mag.. What does it take? Do I write letter and take pics of my car and send them to 3 or 4 mags or what? I think I might have a chance because I am doing something with the STi you rarely see, modding for super cleanness

Since I got my 2005 STi I wanted a fast daily driver/streetable sleeper.

Most do not make their STi look like WRX's, down to the interior.

I have done all the work myself.

I redid the dash black (looks factory per Mike W.)
I cleared my head lights.
I put on JDM blinkers.
I put on a WRX wing, side skirts, and scoop.
I painted my Brembo's black with gunmetal Brembo decals.
I did the JDM tail mod.
WRX interior - carpet (it's still blue)
Re-routed IC sprayer to FMIC so it still works
Fogs behind grill (PIAA)
De-badged, down to the suby symbol out of the grill
Custom cut front bumper with black alum grill for FMIC

I changed the plate to a normal one

My whole concept for the car is anti bling. Go fast and do subtle tasteful mods. I understand it's not for everyone what I have done to my STi. Thing is it did it by myself and I am just an average joe and I only had one "tuner: car before this for 1 yr and did only light bolt ons. No motor ripping apart and building.

I guess my angle is every time I read an article about a nice car in a mod mag the guy did nothing but chose parts maybe and give his credit card a work out.

I did this all myself minus the tunning which is all Mike @ GST. I didn't buy any of my mods on credit, all cash I have in my checking, hence the 2yrs to get this far.

I think it earns more respect to diy from motor work, to custom body work I did it all. That is rare or not the norm in this arena no?

Who knows maybe the demographic wants TV's in weird places, Playstations and more bling no matter how it got there LoL

I knew you guys would have fun with option 3

Oh well it's my dream and I gotta go for it. I was just trying to get some serious feedback and help from fellow suby owners which is pretty much not possible in the BAIC.

honestly i understand you busted your ***** on the buildup, but you need a car that really stands out.

Maybe a sleeper with a GT42R or something along those lines.

A 20 G is by no means a crazy exotic setup.

Dont get me wrong, i love the way your car sits, its a perfect daily driver, just not show material.

Oh and you want to see murdered out, come out to barnes and noble my friend, i will show you murdered out.

I would say if you have a story along with the mods that is catchy and makes a worthwhile read you have a shot. If you reference the article with the STI in D-Sport this past month the car was not by any means flashy or blingy and simply had a built motor with a GT30r and some choice wheels. The pitch on the story was that a family man built the car over a couple of years while still maintaining his family first or something to that like. The car was a sleeper as well. I will dig up the article if I can find it.
