Been independent since I was 17. Then lived at home for 2 months in order to get back on my feet from the military at 21.

Your the man dood!

I have been independent since I was 17, am 23 now. In a few months though I am moving to my dead grandmothers house to help my mom pay the monthly insurance stuff and taxes and to pay off my CC after getting robbed and replacing my lost posessions.

ROFL!

I'm 20 and still live at home. But I'm moving out in June. So soon I'll be independent. Aside from paying bills and what not, it'll be nice.

okay, i'm 26. at 22 i bought my first house, lived in it. now i own another home and rent it out (too far away for a daily commute, but a great investment). i do however "rent" from my parents in the bay aread since it's closer to work. other than that i pay for everything.

20. trying to avoid home as much as possible, so i goto school in socal. unfortunately, i can graduate early...hopefully on the TIT for another 4 years hahah. don't really want to go out into the real world. rent, tuition, car since i was 17, insurance, monthly allowance. hopefully when i eventually get a full time job, they still give me all that, so it counts as a non-taxable source of extra income

------
edit: oh yea, + cell phone bill and books for school too.

last I lived with my dad was before I joined the Navy when I was 18 back in 92. After that been living with my wife and we bought our house 2 years ago, I thought it was expensive back then, if I wanted to buy my house today there would be no way, house exact same as mine right doen the street just went for almost TWICE what I paid for mine just two years ago!

I really feel for you guys out there trying to buy a place in this market, my neighbors 2 sons both still live with them, their both in their 30s and have good jobs but really dont have a shot at getting even a condo

Yeah, seriously, the prices are getting ridiculous around here. It's mainly because of supply and demand. So many more people want to live here than we have houses for. So even crappy houses will sell quickly for a hefty price.

My girlfriend and I are getting an apartment together since it's somewhat affordable. But I have no idea how long it will be until I can ever actually buy a house

22- Full Time Student

Live at Home- Student/Free Rent

Deal is, long as I'm a student:

Insurance is paid for. I get my medical (no dental) through my mom's work as a student.

Tutiton is also covered, as long as I am a student.

I personally don't agree with the American view on independence. My parents will take care of me until I gradute with a degree. I will, in turn, t ake care of them when they age into senority. As the oldest, I will stay with them for the rest of their lives, making sure they are taken care of. Bonus for me is that The house becomes mine really at some point.

I'm actually looking into getting property myself right now. For Investment.

I moved out at 17. haven't been back since.

Well...I spent 5 weeks there recovering from knee surgery in Nov. and I spent a couple weeks there recovering from getting my wisdoms pulled like 6 years ago.

They do help me when it's needed. They helped me with my down payment for my wrx and some small things every now and again. But I paid for my school...well am paying for it still and I pay everything.

My brother on the other hand....is 25 and lives in a van in the front yard..no kidding.
