I thought timing belt was more around 90k=100k ?! I got mine replaced at like 90k (Before it was scheduled because they were already taking the heads off for some problem, so it only cost me $90... parts)

As far as who to talk to you'll probably end up talkin to Noah, which is Adams brother...both are great guys.

It is good to have decent, independent Subaru specialists around. LIC, MPJ and AHQ are all great places. I'd feel confident taking my car to any of them.

Anyone know if this has any kind of negative impact on my original warranty (i.e. if I take my car to any service place OTHER than the Dealer)?

The only time I brought my car in to the dealer was for its 30k service - and I swear they didn't do half of what was on the 30k checklist....

I can say that Adam/Noah are reliable in the north bay - LIC Motorsports

Kevin at Auto Headquarters is also very knowledgable about Subarus and regular service checks they are in Redwood City.

Gruppe-s also knows what they are doing and can take care of you, in Hayward.

MPJ will probably give you the best price, if that is your number one concern, they are also in Hayward.

as long as it is done the way lic would do it (full check list, with more items checked then the dealer would, and all fluids the dealer would change as well) then it will not have an impact on your warranty.

That's because the dealership wants to collect a profit, SoA wants to collect a profit and their mechanics want to get paid. At LIC they have a more consolidated overhead so they can afford to charge better prices and they have a reputation to maintain. Go to LIC.

goto AUTO HQ in Redwood City. cKevin (the legend) was a master tech at subaru for 4 years and will give you dealship service without the dealship prices. the other mechanic, tony, still works at subaru. the combination of tony and cKevin will solve your problem in no time.

do a search fo "ahq"

Another vote for LIC.

<<<Note where I work. I get a discounted shop rate, I won't go to my own mechanics.

I sell these guys thousands in parts every month, so unless they're putting them on ebay, I assure you...they use the genuine article.

Anyone who comes to my counter looking for an alternative (either modded or sick of paying dealer prices)...wind up taking the drive north...and calling me and thanking me.

LIC > * Subaru.

Santa Cruz Subaru is great for work done under warranty, though.

Went to LIC yesterday for my OEM 60k service.

if I had 4 hands I would give LIC four thumbs up!! well at least 3, one for Noah, one for Adam and one for Kevin. Clean shop, nice people, outstanding service - worth the long drive for sure! LIC will definitely get more of my business.

Thanks guys!
