Holy high service maintenance fee batman

My car is in need of it's 60,000 service, which also requires the timing belt to be changed.

Just called to make an appt. - also asked for some kinda of ballpark estimate.

Close to 1k!!! ouch! Hope they can also take care of my 1st gear grinding issue for that price

Wow! Go to LIC. You'll pay less AND (this is the important part) get piece of mind. They're honest and pay super close attention to detail. No B.S. involved. LIC's reputation rides on every car that gets worked on, no room for error. I just had some tune up stuff, including timing belt, done on my car by them. Perfection as usual. I'll never let a dealership touch my car again.

So does LIC. go through the same 60k inspection list as Subaru?

Do they use genuine Subaru parts? not even sure if it matters - just thought I'd ask.

Yes they use the same stuff.. Plus if you want preformance they hook that up also. I believe their checklist is better then the dealership, they check everything out.

hummm...interesting. Might have to cancel my appt. at the dealership and look into LIC.?

I’m just having a hard time giving the dealership that much of my hard earned $$

Yup - LIC will use the exact stuff that the dealer does, as well as use nicer stuff if you like.

Just realized they are in Novato - that's a ways (I live in Milpitas)

but from the sounds of it, it's worth the drive!

Try giving MPJ Performance in Hayward a call. They did a great job on my 30k and for a very good price. I brought my own parts, but I'm sure they could work something out if you want them to provide them.

maybe subaru's 60k policy is as pessimistic as toyota's...

i never heard of toyota truck v6 engines who's timing belt actually broke... most are actually replaced before they break.

You might want to check Auto Headquarters in Redwood City. Kevin was a Subaru Master Technician at Carlsen Subaru and ASE certified as well. He knows Subarus inside and out, and has been building them in Hong Kong, Japan and the USA.

They do not sell any parts so won't try to push parts. They can definitely do your service and their motto is "Dealership service without the dealership prices".

As far as who to talk to you'll probably end up talkin to Noah, which is Adams brother...both are great guys.

Why dont you do the 60k maintance by yourself first, then just get the timing belt done? thats the way I'd do it since 60k maintance is Durr Durr easy
