what are your D\L and U\L speeds? I have SBC DSL (which I really hate BTW) at home....and I am getting about 1.2 mb/s down, and only about 115-128k up (after I tweaked my registry)......but at work here on our T-1 line we are getting 1.4 mb/s symmetrical  (no tweaks)

I had comcast before I went to surewest. They were pretty good. The service was reliable and quick. I hate comcast customer service though.
Now I get crazy speeds I won't gloat too much though

384 d/l is norm, while 128 u/l is what everyone gets.
guess that is to prevent users from operating servers at home.
to get higher dsl speeds, you have to pay more than what you are paying. heck theyh may bump you to their commercial dsl account...
