A lot of people say that, him and I have gone through a bunch together, but in the end he means well, just has a tough exterior.
You know who REALLY sucks? Is Chris, from ISpeed... He got fired and isn't with then anymore, but was one of the founders and was with them for years... Biggest d-bag ever!

Going back to the price - I really hope the price would be lower than current STi pricing due to the lack of amenities but I am skeptical. I can't help but think the name 'Special Edition' is another word for 'Expensive'.
If it is indeed the TR version of the STi and is in the $28K - $32K I would give Subaru a standing ovation. I think most would agree with that

I like the new EVO body style, and they are still a great deal, cheaper then the STi with just about the same performance... I dunno, I just can't see myself paying that much for a new STi... Maybe if it were a lot better then the last GD body style, but it isn't... Where that extra $5k+ went is beyond me. $5k may not sound like a lot to some rich guy that can afford to throw money away, but for the average joe like you and I, that $5k+ is a lot of money and can pay for A LOT of mods...
I got my 2007 STi with 11k miles for $28k OUT THE DOOR, that's with tax and everything... This was in early 2008 so the car was almost brand new, and I got it at a dealer... That's the kind of pricing that I'd expect from Subaru... But almost 40K for a new STi with options? I dunno man, I really think I'd rather get an EVO and spend money on a bunch of mods that would spins circles around the new STi...
Don't get me wrong, I love subies and I'm driving my 3rd one and have been an active member here for about 10 years, but money plays a major factor in buying a new car, knowing how much the last model year cost, and seeing the 5k markup in MSRP of the new one def leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I know I'm not alone.
If Subaru made a TR version of the STi and made it more along the $31k range, they'd sell a hell of a lot more cars. I know of at least 10 people who have purchased other cars after having their hearts set on STi's, but changed their mind after calculating the cost of a new one. These are people who totally wanted a Subaru and were totally set on getting one... But after the price factor was considered, they chose different cars, a couple of them getting EVO's instead.
The MSRP on a new EVO GSR is about 33k, but I've seen people get them for about $31.5 before tax... It's def a bit more expensive then the old EVO, but still a much better deal then the new STi and it comes with better stuff, like 18" wheels, better tires, etc, etc... If you had money to get a new car, would you rather spend $31.5k for a new EVO, or 34k for the new STi? I know it's not a huge difference, but it's enough to sway a lot of people.

Yep, $35K+ is just too much.... but people pay it. I just cant do it, I prefer buying used also. In 2007 I bought a 2004 STi with 22K miles for $23K.
That said, I'm open to buying new.... I'd trade my 04 STi for a zero APR / $28K special edition STi in a heartbeat
