to sum it all up

Whiney people who lurk got all butt hurt cause those of us who chit chat every day and are good buddies post alot of seemingly meaningless stuff (inside jokes most ly). They get all butt hurt cause they dont understand any of it and they prob wish they did. SO they *****ed and moaned, reported every single post to mods so that the mods had to do their jobs. Now no post counts in any regional forum count and everythign is going to **** cause of whiny lurkers who think BAIC is a technical forum

Hmm...

I guess I will have to rethink how to handle it, because post ****** will be post ****** no matter what.

That I do not care about it. But, I need to reward those that contribute in the real way.

Let me think about it and see what I can do.

I agree, custom titles i think would be the best way.

That or a member of the month page? Do a spotlight on a person a month?

post ****** = traffic

in all honesty, the majority of the 'post whoring' is friends talking to each other on the forums

my solution. Axe the post counts all together. Have donations to help with bandwidth ( who cannot handle like $10 or $20 a year to help out around here ) and give out custom titles and avatars to peopel that donate or are active in the tech forums

I think that would curb the whiners cause their post count is not as high as others, reward the ones that do something around here other then "lol" or "cheers&ENJOY" ( had to say it ) in every thread, and really reward the people around here that are willing to help pay for a comunity they enjoy

just my $0.02

good idea, i have no problem throwing some cash alex's way to support this place. I like this place to much not to, its where alot of my buddies are. And to the haters who have no buddies here, your sure as hella aint going to win anyone over by whining about baic not being a technical forum or how you come to baic for technical issues.

what you are doing isn't necessarily bad. BAIC generates a lot of activity, but not all the posts here are PW posts...we're just a close-knit group of i-clubbers who make frequent posts. whether you reward us or not doesn't really matter, at least not to me.

as for people who contribute to the technical forums getting credit, more power to them and more power to you for recongizing them.

BAIC'er for life!!!

I could care less about post counts and avatars.

The simple solution to the post whoring: Either give everybody avatars or don't give them at all.

For those that contribute, rewarding someone for having a post count of 2000+ or giving them an avatar doesn't mean anything to me. To new users that browse these forums, it won't mean anything to them either. They might interpret those numbers as simply as a member that posts a lot.

If you really want to reward those members who contribute in a good way, set up a separate sub section or sticky in each section called "Member of the Month" or something and whoever gets that award in that section gets a free t-shirt or hat or i-club sticker or something. That would mean a lot more to the individuals and they would be recongnized more as a real contributor than simply giving them higher post counts and an avatar.

That's my 2 cents.

Stickers won't stick to your car unless it has 50,000 miles. Drive around the block a few times if necessary.
