hah..I was watching Leno the other night, and he had a great joke.
He mentioned the earthquake that took place in So. Cal the day following the Lakers championship loss. Turns out it wasn't an earthquake at all, but rather thousands of Lakers fans simultaneously jumping off the bandwagon.

It's all good man. Can't say that I'm not disappointed because I am. But what can you do? I guess just wait and see what happens to the Lakers come july...
I don't think they will be a lottery team yet (with Kobe opting out, Shaq demanding a trade, Malone retiring, Payton not being resigned) but oh well...

Gary Payton did not OPT out of his contract. Kobe will stay with the team and Shaq is headed back to the east, hopefully to Indiana for Jermaine O'neal and Al harrington! Or to Phoenix for Amare and Marion.

Change is good. I don't mind Shaq get traded at all. IMO, he's not as dominant as he was during the last championship run when he used to score 30/40 points in palyoffs routinely. He may have had a couple of good games in the finals, but I think he has passed his peak. He's getting paid $32 million for next season and LA get can some great players for that kind of money.

Payton hasn't opted out YET but I hope he exercises his right to do so. He only has 1 more year with them if he chooses to stay. He was brought in to defend other point guards and it showed last season (and most importantly in the Playoffs), that he could not.
If anything else, I hope they keep Shaq for the simple fact that, even a 50%, he is still the most dominant down the post. Teams still don't have answers for him. And as for Kobe, there is no other state/city that loves him more that LA. I hope the organization does everything they can to keep him. Everyone else can go and hopefully, they can rebuild around the 2 once more...

The Colorado Penal League is just chomping at the bit.... & will LITERALLY love Kobe... probably in more ways than he cares to contemplate but yeah...
