It's quite apparent the length of coverup, and the denial of how the children got injured by our military shows arrogance of America. It would have been a lot better to say "Hey we did it, it was a mistake, we apologize" but instead of taking Toyota's route, they decided to not let information on how 2 photographers were dead, tried to bury the information until Reuters exercised the Freedom of Information Act.
It's great to hear after reinvestigation, the shooting was deemed legitimate. I guess the government always covers stuff up and deems it OK to blow up a van trying to evacuate wounded personnel. I'm sure there was explicit show of weapons in the van and on the dead bodies.
IF THERE WAS ANY APPARENT WEAPONRY, I guarantee the military would have said so a lot sooner, the fact it took this long to say it means they didn't have any hard facts to show why they killed more innocent people.
It's OK, Obama said we're getting out... a year ago. Bahaha!

Walks like a duck, talks like a duck. Would you have been happier if rather than "declaring war" I typed "militarily invaded a sovereign country based upon manufactured evidence?" I agree that both political parties have blame in this very expensive and bloody "war-or-whateveryouwannacallit".

If they already had troops so close on the ground, the apache can cover them up top, and has insane fire power. As you saw. I don't think it was needed to open up on some guys who clearly didn't have weapons, especially when there are ground troops so close. Frankly its a waste of goddamn tax payer money, coulda had the ground troops ax those hodgies.
Honestly guy I agreed it's a touchy situation, but your post sounds retard and full of some of the **** loyalism. Frankly you give people a good reason to hate america, and a good reason for terrorist to take up the fight.
I guess you don't understand things like this just make it more dangerous for the US citizens in the future.

This looks like a horrible incident.
So I'm unclear... were there any weapons at all? I kn the cameras looked like RPGs/AK47s, but were there also weapons?
Once the pilots were cleared to open up, they were in attack mode and unfortunately the van entering the area extended the "engagement". This is a perfect storm of things going wrong.
The real issue is we shouldn't be in Iraq in the first place.

If you are a combat veteran I do apologize for insinuating that you can not accurately comment on how a warrior feels.
If you are not, then all of your comments as well as those from people who have never been in combat are completely pointless and are pure armchair Quaterbacking.

Second, You say its a waste of tax dollars, and situations like this make it a good reason for a terrorist to take up the fight, and more dangerous for US citizens.
What??
Almost everyone on this board are jingoistic military lovers, is it just that 'car guys' love the military without question cause it backs up there own macho-lifestyle? Almost everyday I am astonished by the stuff on this forum. Y'all have lost your GD minds.

Why the personal attack & name calling?

The few the proud... bull****, you arent few, you are common, Ghandi, MLK those are the few, you, the soldier are about the most common man on the planet. I am sure that if it was 150 years ago, you would have lined up to slaughter the indians, you are common, nothing more.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself with this BS? We have an all volunteer military that makes up less than 1% of the American population. Put down the bong and go check your stats before you go mouthing off with your hippie nonsense.

we learned in Vietnam, that a draftee army is not good at fighting wars of empire. A volunteer army, an army of mercenaries, is the only truly effective way to grow an empire. Thats why the military would never allow a draft to happen, not ever again.

Thank you for proving my point. I am not a soldier, I hate soldier-ness, Have you ever thought that the reason there are so many wars is that there are people exactly like you in other countries. That you are really just fighting yourself?

If I saw that in my sights, I would've smoked 'em, too.
