help on undo tinted windows

I think the fine is $200 odd dollars or so, I'd rather take them off and not be hassled again.
It's pretty easy, section the tint in 3 to make it easier for yourself, or start in a corner and peel slowly so the sticky residue will be left on the tint. Any spot you missed, hit it with a mix of goo gone and simple green, let it sit for a bit and use a razor to take it off. If you need help and you're in Nor. San Jose, I can give you a hand. It's a pretty simple process.

sorry to hi-jack this thread. but do yall know any good places in the SJ area (im in Monterey) that do good tint jobs? and a estimated $? thanks.
i don’t know about tint adhesive specifically, but a heat gun/hairdryer works wonders on most adhesives. i wouldn’t be surprised if you could tackle this task with just the razorblade and some patience.

They have 'tint-off' spray that seemed to work pretty well. My only problem was removing the tint of the rear window... the heater lines are very fragile. The side windows should be easy though.
Peel a corner or something, spray with tint-off, let soak, and peel slowly. Repeat as necessary.
I know a good tint place in Burlingame.

i dont think they check the vin# when they check your car, they just check the license plate. so you could just find the same color wrx and swap the plates and bring it in...

easiest way to remove tint is to peel it off, then use a razor blade and some soapy water (4-5 drops of joy/ dawn/ baby shampoo to 32.oz water) then just wet the window and scrape the glue.
the goof off and simple green actually make it harder to remove the glue.

WOW $200, Each time i had mine it was $70 for the tint part.
Not sure if it relates, but heat will always help take of stickers and the associated goo.

the tint shops have a way to remove it using a heat gun and a plastic bag or something that pulls the tint off then just clean the glue off its a messy process.
yeah tinted windows + california cop = lots of fines or messy cleanups... go to your doctor and get a perscription for sensative sun exposure and you can have tinted windows hahahaha ( i heard they can do that but never really checked in to it) be cool if it was true

My fine in Santa Clara county a year ago was $112. I paid the fine. Damn bike cop with nothing to do.
Which reminds me....there are bike cops cruising Valley Fair and handing out tickets to people left and right while you wait in line to find parking.
Use goo gone or similar to remove the excess residue.

ive never heard of anyone getting tagged for tinted windows unless they were like 5% all the way around.
what % was your tint?
i am thinking about 15% on my rear and front 2 windows.. shouldnt be too bad.
