How do I go about "breaking" the studs? They are very stripped. I can take a picture if you like. Tried hammering a socket over the stripped lug, didnt work. YES I am using the correct sized socket. The reason they stripped is because the d bags at Richs Tire Barn must have torqued my lugs down with the force of 1,000 men because they would not budge at all for many hours. We then tried spraying a loosener on it and letting it sit, this worked for 3 our of the 4 wheels. When we got to my 4th wheel, 3 of the lugs came off easy and 2 were giving us some trouble. So we did all we could and tried using a breaker bar and the loosening liquid idk what it was called and ended up stripping them.

So... let me get this straight, u guys used a breaker bar and it stripped the lug? What kind of lug nuts are they, and why arent you using the right key/size mm? Its hard to strip them unless they are really torn up.

But give these ideas a try:

Spray lug with pb blaster.

If you use an impact wrench, tight it to break the rust first then loosen it.

Get a 1/2 inch wrench with the correct key/socket and impact it with a deadblow hammer, or big rubber hammer. If you dont mind using a metal hammer and possibly have nicks on your tools, then u can go that route.

I dont recommend heating the lug with a blow torch to try and get it out because it might damage your rims and the structural integrity of that heated area. Some are more affected than others, but dont take the risk.

All else fails................... break stud some how, and just replace it.
yes right size. tried pb plaster. no impact wrench. i stood on it and bounced on it. wouldn't budge.....

Edit- Good news though, my Dad and I knocked one of them loose, so only 1 needs to be cut off.

If you can fit a socket on to take off the lugs, why can't a smaller socket fit?
