my sti intercooler broke my aluminum ac line, and all my fluid leaked, i got a new line installed (thanks gino and riggs), and i dont know where to get new fluid, how much it costs, and what not.... if anyone has any ideas, that would be much appreciated!!!
should i go to the dealership, or will they charge me an arm and a leg, i dont think warrenty will cover it because my car is pretty modded and subaru doesnt like that

Any competent garage or automotive a/c shop should be able to hook you up, although the dealership knows exactly what to do. They've probably got to add the refrigerant plus lubricating oil for the compressor. A decent shop will know not to put Freon (I think that's R-12) in a modern system. I think all late-model cars take something like R-34. A good shop will also check the system for leaks once it's recharged. There are some other diagnostic checks to run and it's similar to the way an HVAC technician checks over a house with central heat and air.
Dan, have you done anything to prevent the STi intercooler from messing up your a/c line again?

R134-A can be bought at your local parts store cheap. Kragen has it for like $5.99 for 12oz. You just stick the can to the little nozzle on the driver's side of your engine bay. YOu can't buy R12 though becasue it is bad for the environment. That stuff has to be done at a pro shop after a leak test has been performed.

I don't think 12oz will fill the system, but you can use this stuff on your own. Usually, this stuff is used to "top off" a low system, so you may want to consult a pro about using this stuff with a bone dry system.

Something like that. I think systems are usually around 48-50oz, but I'm not sure. They are pretty cheap so buy more than you need, and return what you didn't use. Better yet, be ghetto like me and filler up in the Kragen parking lot! If you need more, run back in! I'd do a tranny swap in their parking lot if they'd let me. It's like having a fully stocked garage!
