But come on man, if you can buy a house, so can they. I think it is a little much to think buying a gun is going to solve your problems.

Also think about it, gangbangers run in groups vs little ol you, I think your odds are better spent buying a security system and better door locks.

I also think the actions which you display to these guys would be seen as more threatening. Remember, they aren't intimidated by you, you are of them.

I am not anti-firearms, I own my share. But I never bought them with the soul purpose of protecting myself because I felt threatened by my new neighbors.
I live in Southwest Santa Rosa. I have introduced myself, the neighbor across the street is cool, its folks moving in with him I am cautious of. Plus the group that moved down the street. I wave and **** when they drive by, and say whats up when they are walkin around. But I see them eye my **** all the time. One of their girlfriends I caught going through my mail. Now I have Fort Knox for a mailbox.

I got the house alarm dont get me wrong, but if someone wants something, they will try to get it.

And its not just for the neighbors, its Santa Rosa man. Its no Oakland or Richmond, but its def declining in some parts. Is those retards coming into my area is what I am worried about. I appreciate your thoughts but my worries do not go unmerited. I dont think that buying the gun will solve my problems, but it sure as hell will make me feel better about them.

I've got about 15K through my G23 and never had a FTF. Worked for me I guess.

Anyway, this thread has be wanting another gun. I was thinking along the home defense route with a Mossberg 500 Persuader. One of those 8 shot 20" deals. Anyone have any experience with these? I figure the more rounds the better.

Honestly, I think, for a house gun, I would go as short as possible (IIRC 18" barrel, 26" overall). 6+1 is plenty.

Problem with that is.. It is easy to call your friend a pansy now because he limp wristed it / jammed it.. But how about you go try firing that weapon when you have a few rounds in your gut and your life depends on it..

I'd prefer a weapon that is not going to jam - no matter how improperly I use it.. It's especially bad for a weapon that trys to market itself as ultra reliable... I've done the limp wrist test with a few Glocks.. I could make all of them jam pretty much on command.. The worst was a 17c that I REALLY had to make sure I had a handle on just to fire.. And I'm a big guy / been shooting for over 20 years.

I agree. I've been keeping my benelli as the stand by but, it's 26" barrel gets in the way. I am leaning towards an 870 HD or a mossberg 500 persuader as the "house gun."

So, I just purchased one of these on www.gunbroker.com. Damn that site is addicting!

Anyways, I leaned towards capacity vs the shorter barrel. Being shipped to the FFL Dealer I use tomorrow.
