help choosing bike rack-thule/yakima

im looking for the best bike carrier setup for a sti.normally i throw it in the bed of my truck but since its alot cheaper and faster to get to places like northstar and whistler with the car i want to get a rack.
ive been looking at thule and yakima.i will want a wind deflector and and hold at least 2 bikes.

what setups are you guys using and what would you change?
is anyone selling a setup?interested in a part trade for bike/car parts?
please post pics and any thoughts.

Thule. Hands down a quality product. If you ever are in the Sac/Roseville area, "Rack n Road" is the place to go.

I know both brands are quality so whichever brand you go with, you'll be happy. can't give you specifics since I don't have a bike rack on my car but I went with the yakima rack system only because I had a yakima snowboard rack previously so I just wanted to stick to the same brand.

Since you have an 06, you can do the custom install:

Although I disagree with burnyou on his preference for Thule, I do agree that rack and road is the place to go. I personally prefer some of the design features of the Yakima, and especially the round bar design, but it's a win win no matter what you choose because both companies make really legit products.

And if you don't already have something of a brand you want to stick with, get whichever one is cheaper. Both are very good quality.

^^ this x 100000

rack n road is definitely the place to go.

Ive owned both Thule products in the past and now yakima products... and honestly... same **** but square bars vs round bars, thats about it. the installation difficulty is almost entirely dependent on vehicle and not the rack systems, both are sturdy.

i went with yakima this time around because all my buddies use yakima so we can exchange pieces if we need to... the only major reason was that the ladyfriend had an easier time using the yakima stuff (tightening **** down, etc) than Thule so i figured it was win/win.

From what I've seen Yakima racks sit more flush with with the roof than the Thule racks.

I've got yakima and just like everyone else... go to rack n road off arden. Nice people and great prices. I got 30% off the fat cat snowboard accessory just because they didn't have the one I wanted in stock.
