HELP! Car impounded for 30 days!

Okay this is how it went. Yeah as the topic says my car has been impounded and its gonna be in there for 30 days! He got me down for "SPEED CONTEST" WTF! SPEED CONTEST?!?!? i stop on a red light and there was a STOCK AUTO Jetta and i had to use the restroom real bad so i just gased it a little bit to get home faster and the cop was coming from the opposite side and he heard my car so he bust a U and pulled me over said i was racing. On the ticket the cop put Speed Contest and on the MPH he put i was going 35 MPH and Max Spd on the ticket he also put 35MPH, So this is my question. He said i was racing and going 35mph. Any ideas how i can fight the ticket in court??

BTW the speed limit for that street is also 35 mph and it was in Downtown San Jose. OH! the cop also said the only reason he pulled me over was because the jetta was in front of me. So OBVIOUSLY i wasnt racing!!

Any kind of opinions or ideas of how to fight this case is appreciated!

He should have pulled the guy who "won" over. Try fighting it in court, explain to the judge in a gentleman manner that you simply had to use the restroom and you were not racing. If you were racing, you would have been in front of the Jetta. Makes sense to me.

The cop also said the reason i slow down was because i saw him coming. He was coming from the opposite side with his headlights in my eyes. I had no idea what kind of car it was and if i was racing as he said i was then i would of kept going and flew by him more then 35mph.

If he has no hard evidence that you were going faster than 35 that means absolutely nothing in court. I mean, the evidence he has against you is basically nothing. He has, omg you were going the speed limit, and if what you said is true, both you and the Jetta did nothing to initiate a race, I don't see why you shouldn't beat a jerk cop like that.

Shoot the cop and when he doesn't show up in court it'll be dismissed. j/k Just explain your situation to the judge, if you didn't do anything wrong and were going the speed limit it shouldn't be a problem.

that's a lot of fees for a car to be impounded for 30 days, good luck fighting it in court, hope you get out of it.

So if you win, can you charge the officer the cost of the retnal car you had to use while your car was wrongly impounded?

speed contest ticket i think you better get yourself a lawyer its not as easy as people think to fight specially since all cities are being really strict on street racing lately.
im going through something similar right now and its a battle.

Sorry to hear about that...+1 on getting a lawyer or at least talking to one to see if you have a chance of fighting it.
