don't you need the defi control unit in order for it to work?

sorry i didnt get back to you so soon. anyways you dont really need anything else to mount it unless you got a spot that you want to mount it too. i just drilled a hole through the plastic piece in fron tot he alternator and mounted the sending unit there. you can mount it up where ever you want to. i am free all day wednesday after 10:45. send me a pm if your interested. the only problem i found in doing the install was picking a spot to moun the sending unit. the control unit is really easy to install also, you just need some wire taps for that, as well as the place you want to mount it at.

It's simple, install the sending unit in the engine bay and tap a vacuum source (T the BOV one if nothing else available) thread the wire through the engine bay into the car by the main ECU duct (passnger side behind the turbo) For the wiring of the control unit pull the clock unit off the dash (pull up hard) look at the connector to the clock it says what each pin does, tap accordingly

Take 2 of the above and call you Dr if problems persit, id that fails call me on (510) 783-5300 x18

You need a T-splitter and some extra hose.. since you dont' just want to cut your stock hose for the tap. Dan did mine you can pm him.. the sender unit we end up putting it at the battery tie down.. works good..

Yea it's pretty simple to insall the defi gauges because of the link system, you only need to wire a total of 4 wires + each gauges sensor. Just follow what Mike said and the install will go smooth. Here's the correct wiring if you decide to tap into the clock harness.

connecting defi to clock:
red to blue/red
orange to yellow/green
white to pink
and black to black

If you bought the gauge new then defi gives you a T and some vac. hose. If you got it used just run to a local auto store and get some.

So if i were to connect it to the clock, the defi guage would do its starting illumination when i turn on the car's ignition? Well what im say is the defi gauge will light up the same time when the cluster lights up?

Yes, if you connect the gauges to the clock the gauges will turn on with the turn of the key's ignition.

also something to watch out for during the install. Unplug the battery before starting work. If you don't and the wires touch then you will blow the radio/block fuse.

Also, I dont know what size vacum t-tap comes w/ the defi unit. The greddy gauge cam with a really small one, 3/16 i think. That caused odd reading at idle until I switched it to a 1/4 T.
