Heads up if you fight speeding tickets...

I just found out that I've been paying higher insurance rates since the beginning of 2003 for a ticket that was dismissed.

I fought a ticket using the Written Declaration method and lost. I appealed under CVC40902 (Trial de Novo) and in court the ticket was dismissed (and I received a check later for the bail refund).

Well, it was supposed to have been dismissed! I just switched insurance companies and the Agent mentioned that it was on my record. That one stinking ticket has probably cost me over $200+ in higher insurance rates since 2003!!!!!! Dang it!!!

F'n *%!*&^%!^!$ knockers!!!!

Two takeaways:

1) If you get a dismissal, make sure the stupid court-monkeys process it

2) If the court make a mistake that costs you money, you are SOL

If you have the paperwork stating it's dismissed, can't you just get an abstract, bring it all in and have them make it right? If it's dismissed on your record/paperwork in the past and the ticket occurs on your abstract today, then there is obviously a problem.

I'm not so sure about that. My parents have been paying like $80 bucks a month more because something got screwd up with our insurance company and my sister is listed as a teen boy, not a girl. After we got everything straightened out, our insurance company wrote us a $600 check!

Moral of the story:
Complain to your insurance company and demand the extra money you've paid back.
