Head bolt washers

I'm tired of looking at my caddy motor not put together.

Anyone know where I can get head bolt washers. I need them for 3/8th bolts. I can't find them anywhere. Starting to **** me off.

I'm pretty sure ARP makes some but the only ones I can find are for head studs.

So all youz engine builder types... find me some 3/8th head bolts. I need a bunch.

and I need a drill press or a taper head that can get me a 1 inch hole.

I want to put my stinking engine back together and that's all I need. That and about an hour and 3 beers.

not sure if those will work. The head bolt washers I've seen are flat on the bottom and then tapered on top to sinc with the head bolts.

But hell the guy before me didn't use washers at all...hence the busted in half mount and the absolute need for washers this time.

call up the local machine shops, they'll know where to get good hardware.

I hope the head bolts you speak of are brand new, because most head bolts are torque to yield and shouldn't be reused.

yeah head studs are a good way to go due to their re-usability, that's partly why race engines use them.

Is this a northstar?

It's a 53 hooptie... sheesh get it right.

Head studs get stuck. I really don't want to have to deal with paying a machine shop to put them in then paying a machine shop to take them out if I have issues later on. Bolts are fine. This is a not a high compression race motor.

It's a low compression mostly stock motor. Only modification is .60 over and slightly higher flowing heads.

I just got of the phone with a company that specializes in this kind of stuff and even they're like... we don't even know where to get those... good luck dude. Told me to call ARP with the measurements and have them build me a kit.

Gonna make a couple more calls then I'll call ARP with the measurements of the bolts and washers. Such crap man. Damned cadillacs. NOTHING is easy with this car. The friggin starter is one year only and not replaceable. You have to rebuild the damned things. All most all parts providers for everything start in 1955. Hence you see very few pre 55's around.

GRRRRRR>

I want my damned car back on the road. Once it's running again it'll be looking good a lot sooner.

Jeff...

2 things... one. what are you doing sat? two. I might try and put together a cat trip if we get another storm. $60 a head and I want to take up all 10 spots in the cat. It's basically all over in and out of bounds at bear and it's be JUST us. SWEET.

They're going through may.

$60 for backcountry corn without the hike sounds solid! build a cheese wedge and huck all day

But for the lac, goodluck. Maybe someone with a lathe could cut you the concave washers the and just case harden 'em.

tried:
Fastenal Co
- www.fastenal.com - (925) 227-1248

http://www.bhjbaycity.com/

And in my opinion the best machine shop in the bay:

Amaral's Engine Parts and Machine 510-656-9351
45405 Industrial Place, fremont

I'll try amarals. Thanks.

I had my heads done at cylinder heads unlimited in santa clara but when I called them about bolts he didn't have any. Maybe I'll see if they can get me some.

Yeah I think it's like 5 runs in the cat or something like that. They take you up and pick you up. I'd be willing to bet they'd leave us somewhere after to build... just have to know how to get out... and I know exactly where to build where we could ride strait to the cars after. WooT!

Course I don't huck much these days but I'm all for building and taking photos. Maybe huck a couple times. My knee brace limits my grabs.... that and my belly. lol!
