and what, have them come back and sue you for shooting them in the legs?

no thank you.

Not really suppose to shoot to kill but in some areas and with some police...they do. Like oakland.
please, tell me where you got this from.

another city in the east bay, where i got a majority of my training from, i was taught to shoot to STOP THE THREAT.

stopping the threat is just that. be it a single .22 shot to the heart or a 30 rounds of .45 JHP. but if i kill the person, trying to save my own life, so be it.

as the old saying goes, "it's better to be judged by twelve, than to be carried by six..."

back to the original thread topic.

i was watching news this morning and saw the interview with the guy. and i saw another angle of the shooting.

the man used his only means of preventing himself of getting killed: the tree.

it may look comical, but in a gunfight, you are either shooting or reloading.

if you are reloading, you are moving or taking cover.

that man took cover AND was moving. and it saved his life.

congrats to him.

i agree with ldivinag's last post about the shooting in the legs thing...i was never ever ever taught to aim for a certain point aside from dead center mass. period. dot. broken down you shoot to stop the threat. first off if your ever justified to shoot, you do it til the threat is stopped, be it the subject is dead or incapacitated or subdued....and yea...it looked hella funny but id run behind that same tree...hell, it worked for him
