I just got my 55" Samsung LED 240Hz 3D for $1760 from Amazon not too long ago, looks like it is currently not too much more than that right now. Other than it being edge lit, it looks amazing.

Frys had the 55 D6500 on sale for $1300 a few weeks back and I would have gone with one of those, but they sold out.
Actually Costco has the Sharp 70" for $1850 right now too. Seems like a pretty good deal, I don't know how good Sharp TVs are though. The Quattron version is $2500 but I don't know if it's worth the extra dough.

just remember to get your tv calibrated. most tvs in the stores are cranked up on brightness and usually over saturated to attract the customers. plus it will be easier on the eyes, longer life for your tv and also save on electricity bills.

oh and +1 to what OCD said earlier.

LG 55lw5700 or LG 47lw5700 from Costco. Technically they are the same as lw5600 series being sold in BestBuy, Frys and etc. Hardware is the same, just the firmware is different but can be "hacked" to lw5600 thru the service menu.

Last time I saw 55lw5700 (about a week ago) it was 1299 in Costco.

Sharp 52" 830u is also a nice TV!

Both LG and Sharp have matte screen if that matters. LG has IPS screen FWIK.

I love my Samsungs.
I have owned a handful of them over the last few years. I have never had a single problem. I was one of the lucky ones that got the Samsung 240hz led 3d t.v. for over half off on black friday.
One of the big things no one has talked about is the cables and signal. I have DirectTV, which works great. And all my other stuff is Samsung.
I have the 7.2 Samsung theater system, Which is a HDMI pass thru system. And can run the 1.4b HDMI cables. My BlueRay is also Samsung. Making sure its a pass thru is very important. You can loose signal thru the sound system. Also some do not let 3d video pass thru as well. All the Samsung firmware is updated over the internet. Makes keeping my gear fresh.

The best reason to keep all Samsung is that its all controlled with one remote. Using the Anynet+ network system. Which allows me to hide everything out of site. So I just have the TV hanging on the wall. I then ran one power wire and one HDMI cable thru the wall to the T.V. I have the Harmony 900 remote with 3 blasters, But the Samsung remote puts the Harmony remote to shame.
One big feature to keep a eye out for is ARC. This lets the T.V. talk back to the sound system you are using. Without ARC, one would need to use TV speakers for sound on any of the web apps the T.V. is using. Like Netflix. You can get around this by running a optical cable from the TV output to the sound input.

Anyways.. Back to the HDMI cables. I have used a bunch over the years. Some no name, some name brand. There are different cables out there. 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3a, 1.3b and 1.4
You will want to find 1.3b or better. Anything below you can loose signal. And to have a brand new pimping TV and use crap cables is like steroids in the special olympics.
If you have a cheap TV like a 60hz then use what you like. But 120 -240 and above and you'll want 1.3b or better, 3d TV's will want 1.4 or better. I think the top is 1.4 right now.
About the cables. I currently use Monster m2000HD cables... Which I think was 100% a waste of money. Granted I store my gear 10 feet away from the TV. So I figured the better the cable the less lost over distance. They have a data rate of over 21Gbps
Personally I now think it was a waste of money.
After setting up my TV with a spider tool. I just do not see a big enough difference to cover the extra cost. And my big complaint is that some shows are so clear you can see the fake from the real. Monster states that if my cables go out of date they will update them for free in the future. So I guess that is good.
I do like the monster cables. But I would get the 1000HD cables or the ones below them next time. They push 17gigs and are still 1.4 also have ARC.

This has some good info.
HDMI Cables Review 2012 | Best HDMI Cables | Compare HDMI Audio Cable - TopTenREVIEWS
Its not 100% up to date. But its got the best info out there in one spot.
Don't got cheap on your cables.

The only other ***** I have is now is sound quality for BlueRays. 98% of them are 5.1 sound or worse.
