Have a question on currency

I got a few wedding gift cards from Japan and most of them contain Yen. Besides an International Airport and BofA/Wells Fargo (which I don't bank at), where can I convert the cash into US Dollars? Preferably a place where I'm not going to get raped on commission or rates.

I know some other countries have currency exchanges places with decent rates and was wondering if we have something similar local.

thanks in advance.

Most major banks will do it. An american express travel office will also do it.

am ex travel office fees for conversions are pretty high tho... i'd just call around and ask to see which place has the lowest fees.

Try to convert at a bank that caters to a lot of Japanese folks like Sumitomo or Union Bank of California. They tend to have better exchange rates for yen/USD.
