This is the most insane thing ever. It just goes to show how safe our cars really are. I've seen so many of my friends get into INSANE wrecks over the past few years, and ALL of them have survived (Connie, Dan_E, Kier, etc).

The safety of this car is one of my favorite things about it. I love the WRX.

it is not about "subaru=tank"...
LUCKY guy is what that is. that subaru is beyond being a tank on crashes like that..nothing can withstand an accident like that and most victims get decapitated.....

Luckiest man alive indeed! Although I do think that a well-engineered car has something to do with it. He's alive because of sheer luck. He only had minor injuries because the car is designed to crumple away from and around the passenger compartment.

think of it this way...if you incorporate crumple zones on a pepsi can and throw a rat into it, a minor/moderate level impact would cause the can to crumple in a shape/form so that the rat survives, and that is by design. however, if you crush teh can beyond recognition (i.e. completely flat), no amount of safety features/design would save that rat.
it's more like:
0.1(design) + 0.9(luck) = survivor
