Because if you do it just right your lap times are sooo much quicker then accually breaking / downshifting for a turn. I want that quality of game plus all the damage. Never played Project Gotham Racing. please give more details.....scoobiesnacks or anyone else that knows it
If you want realistic damage try Colin Mcrae Rally 3 for PS2. I love the GT series too, but I think I like CMR3 better because of the damage and I love WRC. Yeah, you can only compete for the championship with the Focus, but you can do single stages with every other car and beat the hell out of them for fun. I'm looking forward to GT4 with hopes that they'll add some type of damage simulation.

GT4 is coming out around Christmas, but I think that is the Japanese version only. Which is fine with me, because I have a Japanese PS2!
For me, it is still GT3 - I still play the game 2 1/2 years after I bought it. I'm no good on the road course, but I love running Tahiti Maze on free run

"Prepare to qualify"

Seriously, what are some good racing sims for the PC? I just got a computer with enough horsepower to play games on, but I don't know what games to get.

dude, PP was what i grew up on...

nothing like dots on the screen forming a road and a bigger dot as your car... lol

there are no really good driving sims out there. wait for colin mcrae 4 to come out. test drive's latest thing was something i played last january. this was during CES and it was in intel's booth so you know they were using someting to test out the latest pentium...

Im addicted to the getaway right now. I got a code to the free roam mode, so you just drive around London stealing cars and shooting people. The crashes are very realistic too. The glass breaks and everything. Plus have a machine gun is fun for when someone hits you when you run a red light...

MarioKart (I am GOD in battle mode!!!)
ColinMcRae 2.0 for PC (You DONT just drive a focus!)

And right now im really liking this LIve For Speed demo ive been playing... Much more realistic controls and able to customize the cars completey suspension tuning wise is very interesting to fiddle with. Best drifting game ive played yet (only with the turbo rwd car though, the FWD and N/A RWD cars dont drift nearly as well, hehe)

The best driving game I've found to date is EA's Sports Car GT for the PC. Accurate physics and pretty darn good graphics, along with 74832748932 extra cars and tracks available from http://www.speedsims.com

hard to find but worth the trouble.
