I think Costco was decided as the fort.

Yeah, Costco seems better. There is a lot of ground to secure on Mt. Hammy, plus all of the people that already live up there.

Good luck securing that costco... You're better off bringing supplies to a safer, higher place with good vantage points as well as good escape routes.

The problem with Costco is that the locations are in densely populated areas, and each location is a HUGE target to everyone. Most food will go bad really quickly, they don't have that much in terms of canned goods and such (not for a lot of people for long term). All the meats would go bad within a day because the power would go out, breads and other items will also be gone within a couple days. They do have some good supplies, but like I said, you're better off buying them and heading to a more remote/safe location with your family/loved ones/pets.

Smaller groups are better because you can move from location to location with ease... Huddling down in Costco seems like the worst idea ever. lol

Yep ^ in a matter of days no running water,no electricity. All major cities would be a Modern day East Oakland...which is why I think returning to nature would be best. I personally would head up to the Sunol wilderness. Taking as much water and medical supplies and some food, such as high protein foods like peanut butter and energy bars. And of course some guns and ammo, various seeds and precious metals for trading the Dollar would lose all meaning since with no electricity there's no way to get money out or in. I hate to believe in the whole Mayan doomsday prediction...but with all the odd and violent things taking place this year...it makes for some damn good evidence.

I'd probably head over to my dads house in Arkansas. He believes in crap like this so he's planning on retireing soon and buying a house in the middle of nowhere with his own supply of cattle, crops and solar panels.

High calorie, high protein, high carbs! Power bars are great and easy to carry... Canned beans, veggies, etc so you don't get sick from just eating power bars. Get 5 gallon water containers and get water treatment tablets.

Also, a sturdy pot and pan, axe, saw (I have a Glock Shovel, which has a built in saw, $40) for cutting firewood and other items.

Here's the Glock Shovel (Glock Entrenchment Tool)

The shovel part as well as the saw are metal, but the telescoping handle is a very durable/hard polymer.

Best $40 I've ever spent!
