grand prix/F1 tours?
Anyone have experience with those F1 tour packages like www.gptours.com? I'm thinking about going to the Grand Prix of Japan or maybe China later this year. Are they generally worth it? Or am I better off booking/buying my own tickets, transportation, hotel, etc.?
Are there other reputable US based companies compared to gptours.com, who seem rather pricey?

I can't speak from experience...
...but if you go with the tour you have someone else to blame if things go weird, otherwise you're kind of on your own.
If you are going someplace where there is a language barrier, (I don't know maybe you are fluent in both Chinese and Japanese? I'm sure as hell not) tour hosts can be very well worth whatever added expense, and in a lot of cases the packages are still less expensive than doing it on your own, remember the GP is probably the biggest event they get each year, so hotel prices all get jacked up and lots of things get booked as much as a year out.
Then again, the freedom of not being tied into someone else's specific package options would probably be my preference.

save the money and go to singapore next year. that's my plan. i might save lots of money and go nuts next year by doing the asian tour (singapore, china, then japan). remember, GP of japan isn't suzuka anymore

USGP in vegas would be VERY affordable! Even if the rooms in the hotels on the strip were like $300/night, it wouldn't be horrible for a weekend.
Besides there are plenty of places to stay off the strip that are good and clean that would be much cheaper. And of course, the earlier you booked, the easier to lock in good prices.
