I would not bring a mag or cd player. The test will be from the material covered during class, so I would pay attention if I were you. When they say 8 hours, they mean 8 hours. The day will be filled with lectures and some short videos. There are couple of bathroom breaks.

You gotta be a souljah!
I've used every oppty at Traffic School to learn more about the Law (Traffic Code), to understand specific aspects of how the Law is administered, to learn more about Police, urband legend vs. reality with certain violations (e.g. motorcyle lane-splitting), etc.
Over the years, I've received many tickets and attended several traffic schools, and I've learned plenty from all of them.
I wouldn't recommend TM or AIMing, just because you couldn't tell me you have nothing to learn from traffic school.
One reason people drive like isht in this country, as opposed to many European countries, is because a Drivers License is so easy & cheap to get here. Over there, you go through intense, vigorous training (both instruction & testing while driving as well as classroom studies), and you must pay over $1K for each time you take the test, pass or fail.

Yeah, traffic school is great for learning laws and truth about urban myths, but IGNORE the parts about how to actually drive. They are rediculously wrong about how you should control a car. That curriculum was written decades ago, when cars were very very different machines.
