yah, i guess it depend on what road you where on when speeding. 71 on 280 in the hills is not even at the speed of traffic during commute, but on 101 cutting in and out traffic is a different story.
Its all about your speeds safety vs the conditions, I always drive 75mph on 280 unless foggy or rain, it's just not an unsafe speed. The cops know this 2, cause I drive by the same cops every night with them speed gunning me and never have had a problem.
It's probably just comes down to this cop has to work sat, and is taking that out on shiny cars with big wings.

I'm sorry... no i'm not. speeding in front of any law enforcement is asking for a ticket. you're breaking the "Law". unless you are law enforcement you can't do things like 80mph in a 65pmh.
That being said, I got a ticket doing 85 up 280 in redwood city. bike cop that I just didn't see and wasn't fully paying attention on an empty highway as well.
I fought the ticket by written declaration and got my $300 back. simply wrote "i'm not guilty. if the court does not find in my favor I request a reduction in fine and traffic school.". might work might not considering you talked back to law enforcement. If I were him I would have had some choice words for you.
take it as a lesson learned that never assume breaking any law is ok. you gotta pay to play.

but i wasn't doing 85, i was doing 75. Yes it sucks, yes its unfair. You guys can flame me all you want for complaining, but if the shoe was on the other foot you know you would be griping about it.
My main agreement here, is that my punishment will not be suited to my crime due to a higher speed ticket, that I was just not going.
