Yeah, my company just laid off 170 people. A lot of my friends were laid off. I escaped for now. Probabaly next go around for me. My dad might be laid of in the coming week also. My mom has already been laid off and so has my brother. It's really bad times and only thing GW is worried about is going to war. Of course going to war means decreased production of crude and the price of goods goes up and in turn weakening the economy even more. Thanks GW! We're headed for a major depression.

Calvin...we have job openings in the Navy...but it is really hard to get in right now. Sorry to hear that you lost your job. If everybody knew who you were working for, they would understand.

Actually, I'm a Republican you moron! I'm glad he's got you fooled. I'm sure he's counting on the votes of the foolish moron's like you to stand by his side when he gets voted out of office next election. I think his focus is in the wrong place. You know Republicans bashed Clinton for taking interest in foreign affairs and now that is all Bush does. He needs to do something about the economy and head it in the right direction. Iraq is the 3rd largest crude oil producer in the world. If he burns up his oil fields or we blow them up, it will drive up the cost of everything, trucking companies will have to pass along the cost of increased fuel costs to us. Airlines are already in trouble and if the price of jet fuel increases, we might have more airlines go bankrupt. The east has seen one of the coldest winters ever and this will only drive up heating oil costs. I'm glad you blindly believe everything Bush shovels, but I don't.

You shouldn't personally assult me like that. I all that I did was defend the president, my CINC. You moron.
I did not vote for Bush, FYI. When McCain dropped out of the primaries, I did not care for the choice. Like him or not, Bush is all that we have for now, so get used to it. I don't see anybody challenging him in the next election. And God knows that a Dem is not going to win it. They are last century's news.
Calvin did not get layed off due to Bush economics anyway. Have you ever heard of MCI WorldCom? That is what happened to poor Calvin.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the encouraging words and advises. But lets not fight over how our govt is handling things these days. Whether you like the way they handle things or not..its really beyond our control as of now til next election.
However, Im optimistic about our economy, I believe our govt somehow will pull us through. But I also understand how some of you feel frustrated because you and your loved ones are impacted by this economy turnmoil directly or indirectly. We are all victims of this, so lets just stick together, be patient, and hope for the best!
peace!

(disclaimer... BADWRX... I mean no hostility towards you at all... it's just venting time. Bush may not be responsible for the economy but he has absolutely NOTHING to do with the solution so standby, I'm about to vent :-)
Oh, thanks for clearing that up. I thought that the New York Stock Exchange, NASDAQ and American Stock Exchange applied to the US as a whole but I guess they only apply to the Bay Area. Now I know. Woops.
I'm sorry but George Bush is a COMPLETE moron. Yes, Sadam is a madman who has already used chemical weapons (napalm, alphatoxins etc.) in the Iraq/Iran war. The US (and UK) however has caused horrible suffering of innocent civilians as well. I'm sure you know that the US and Britain were using depleted uranium shells in the Gulf War. A decade later 40% to 48% of the population living near areas that were shelled have contracted cancer. Doctors can't treat the patients (not even the pain) because of all the embargos.
Any president who would be willing to go to war without unanimous support of the UN is setting a HORRIBLE precedent, if you don't think that one is going to backfire on the USA and the UK I think you're mistaken.
Yes, Sadam is off his rocker. Yes, he needs to be killed (and I'd pull the trigger myself if I had the opportunity). Yes, we need a regime change (not some half assed job like his father did). Yes, if indeed he has a nuclear capability (some have predicted he will have the bomb in 3 years) we need to take it out. But first we need to get the full support of the UN. I highly doubt Iraq has a strike capability that could reach us. Even if he did, the technology is probably so antiquated that we'd easily be able to take it out before it even got off the continent. Why is he so hell bent on pissing off France and Germany? If the proof is there (and I'm pretty sure it is) they'll probably come around, especially if the rest of the UN is pressuring them. At least we'll have their full support.
Don't fool yourself into thinking that Bush gives a damn about lower and middle class America's financial well being, he doesn't. Alan Greenspan wasn't too thrilled with his proposals because they will do nothing to improve the economy. They might make more of Bush's friends a little richer but that's about it.
Cheers, Joe

more Bush comments
I am a moderate and don't identify with either party since the extremes at both ends try and tell you how to live.
I didn't vote for Bush but I disliked Gore just as much.
What I don't like about Bush is his new fiscal policy, it is a tax code rewrite to shuffle off more of the tax burden to those who make less. This just seems unfair to me. He is also spending Billions to do this and it's billions we don't have.
I am also concerned that he will spend more billions going after Saddam.
He scares me because he is about to set us back fiscally so much that we will probably never be able to pay it back in my lifetime (and if the war happens, maybe not pay it back in my childrens lifetime). I am also concerned about the international backlash of going to war, but I am also a realist and understand that the French position is wholly self serving.
I know nobody read this, but I'm glad I wrote it
