got dirt?
I'm new to I-club by the way. Bought my first Subara, a 2000 Impreza 2.5 RS, about 2 months ago.
Any one know where to find some dirt without driving a hundred miles (from Santa Clara)?
Closest thing I've found so far was Shorelines overflow parking, but had to drive up the pedestrian path to get to it.

you can always hit HOLLISTER HILLS SVRA.
it's a big 4wd park. kinda like a ski resort for trucks.
but i have taken a few i-clubbers there as a day trip.

Is there a good amount of terrain suitable for drifting? I heard it was mostly 4 wheeling terrain.

Too bad you limit yourself to 100 miles, cause there ain't much that hasn't been paved inside that radius.
But there is lots just beyond it....
And never mind Daredevil, he was probably quite drunk at the time and has funny ways of expressing his welcome to i-club noobies.

there are single track trails to fit a truck.
you can do a small loop or someothing
there is a big area called the OBSTACLE COURSE but that can be rutted sometimes.
and finally, there is one area reserved for the campground that has a big flat area that you might be able to get it, if it's not in use.
costs $6 to get in for a day.
plus the drive to get there is a nice 2 lane (1 each way) CURVY highway... well the last 10 miles or so.

and like psoper (pete) says don't mind max, he's always drunk and just too upset that he's turned his car into a trak car and can't hit the dirt with us anymore.
welcome to the club

Have you ever been to Hull mountain/Pillsbury Lake? Near Ukiah. I remember camping there when I was younger. Dirt logging roads on the way up, fire roads all over the mountain.

[QUOTE=psoper]The closest legally open unpaved road is about 85 miles to the south of you, go down 101 and look for Gloria Rd down by Gonzales.

Thanks, I'll check out Gloria road. I'm not necessarily trying to limit myself; just would love to find a spot I could hit before work or something. I'm definitely willing to drive a ways to get there, just need to find the time.

I have done some stuff up west of Ukiah in the moutains and travels on many dirt trails but i'm not sure if it was Hull Mt or not. I'd have to look at a map.
This summer Clear Lake TSD rally will start very early (8-9am) and end around (5-7pm) but it's some of the best roads out there. Bartlet springs rd is legendary.
