The treadwear rating could be different when comparing a summer vs all season tire though
I got 25k miles on my re050s, those were tough miles too. They were awesome tires! They would actually warm up, and give you more grip. They were decent in the rain, even in the rx7. I wish I could have afforded to get them again.

I have the Sumitomo HTR Z III - very good bang for the buck summer tire that is much more comfortable than the RE070.

Here is my review:

Also - dont buy an all season tire! Pointless! If you need to go to the snow, buy a cheap set of curbed rotas and put some all seasons or snow tires on them.

All seasons tires for a daily driver STi = FAIL

they discontinued those and they were replaced by yoko s-drives...better tire because i used to love the es100s (friends cars, dads car had them)

i have s-drives now and love them...had them on one set of wheels, traded them for a wheel set that had kuhmo asx's and it was day and night how much better the s-drives were...after i ran the kuhmos down i got a set of sdrives on and i love them as usual...

Falken 452 would be my choice here.

what is your price range and what size tire do you currently use/want to use? A taller tire will ride better due to more sidewall too. RE070's were excellent for a stock tire. Has good feel b/c the sidewall is so stiff, which also adds to a poor ride. I still think the re01r's are better than the RE070's. My times and my personal autox data do not lie. The RE070 may "feel better", but that is taken care of with a wider wheel if using the re01rs (i ran 245/40/17 on 9.5" wheels) and they were awesome cold and just got slower as they overheated. They also were perfectly controlled in a drift situation. i still say go with the re01rs for the best ride/performance combo. 245/45/17 if you have a 17x8 or wider. They last forever too. Did a whole autox season on 1 set and they were shaved to 6/32" and I had a co-driver and drove to all the local events

Falken Azenis RT-615s all the way, Best tire i've used

Good in wet/dry and lasts a decent time (as long as you don't over drive them constantly)

azenis rt-615 rides almost as bad as re070

you will lose performance unless you get a re070, rt615, re01r, advan ad07, direzza star spec z1, etc.

its ok though, street use right? just get a pilot sport ps2, or a sumitomo htrz III (great tires, almost as good as ps2 except maybe a little worse in the rain and noise departments).

If your looking to buy soon check out my post from a few days ago.

https://www.i-club.com/forums/bay-area-15/great-deal-tires-195530/

The deal isn't as great, the 5% sale is over and for now the live.com cashback is only @ 20% as we speak but still a deal nonetheless. And DTD has a wide selection.

I'm glad you like them, but I hate my s-drives (225/55/17)... noisy, groany at low speed and less predictable in corners. My vote is for Eagle F1 DS-G3s, my previous set lasted 26k and was quiet, silky smooth, had terrifying grip and yet I could make them break and slide in a very predictable manner.

RE01R for their long lasting stickiness, there are stickier daily driver type tires out there, but the difference is very insignificant. Works decent in rain too. have not tried them in snow.
