That's cool. How big are you? A Ninja 250 might be 2 small for you depending on your size. You might want to look into a Suzuki SV650S, Yamaha YZF-600R, etc. Check out http://www.beginnerbikes.com. It has some good info for new riders. Good luck and keep the rubber side down.

I have a 929 and can't get enough of it. I like to ride fast and I have paid for it, several times. Prepare yourself... if you get on a bike, expect to taste pavement, sooner or later. Not trying to discourage you at all, its just a reality.
Motorcycle = speed = adrenaline = boner = danger

do what i did, asked a friend who rides a motorcycle to teach you.
it took me less than a day to learn how to ride a motorcycle (in slow speed, of course.) but by the end of the week, i was already riding in the freeway. it also helps if you drive a stick.
i have to disagree with Madball. you shouldn't "expect" to eat pavement when riding sooner or later. in MY opinion, if you just ride carefully, responsibly, with an alert awareness of your surrounding and know your limit, you'll do just fine.

True spidey, you can be cautious and be considerably more safe than if you are pushing yourself. Let me ask you though... how many riders do you know that haven't gone down? I been riding with quite a few people since I got onto two wheels and I can't name one.

Why do that? You limit yourself if your friend teaches you how to ride. There's not much to it really, but just take the CC rider course and soon after you can get your license. And say that you lay your friends bike down in the process of learning. It can happen. Just take a class and get it over with.
