I frequently have 2 fuel issues:
-gas cap needs to be insane tight
-hoses on fuel evap canister (right by rear tow hook) pop off every once in a while

The gas cap definitely is a common thing, I think it's actually a common problem (or point of confusion) on many cars. I put good hose clamps on the evap system hoses, be careful not to tighten them too much because the male part is plastic iirc.

Yea we got one of those too -- this is only one of the millions of problems with that car.

Woocabin: tighten it until it clicks twice or so. Are you stage 2 with accessport? If so clear the codes and see if it pops back up.

code 0457 if I remember. No biggie. I just ended up resetting it with my code reader for years.

most of the time its been reliable. Needed steering rack and some other junk. One time getting a new key they fried the part of the key system that does it by putting in the battery wrong or some crap (batt in key), and still charged us half the reapir. weakus. Oh yea reliable xept for when it was brand new and dumped the tranny after 3 weeks due to claimed bad software and took 2 mo to get it back.

I'm surprised you didn't have the ABS module failure like 90% of other passats and audis of that generation. Aside from "rowing in pudding" the transmission has been OK on ours. Our key system just went out too! The remote is completely done, and we can only lock/unlock the car from the trunk. Oh and our heater fan went out too, just in time for ski season.

Woocabin, did you figure out the light?
